"This beer marks a milestone in our business, with the expansion of our brewing operations at Port Stephens," said brewery owner, Murray Howe. "Our eighth birthday comes at a time when craft beer is really flying high. The craft beer scene is innovative, experimental and set for further growth in the years ahead. It's a very exciting time."
The Anniversary Ale series changes subtly each year but is always oak aged, always big and always a very limited release of 1000 bottles.
Murray's eighth Anniversary Ale goes back to its roots, reflecting the original recipe brewed to launch the company on New Year's Eve eight years ago.
A big barley wine style inspired by beers from the US, the UK and Belgium, Anniversary Ale 8 will be 10% abv. It features warming, rich malts and alcohol, a dry finish for a beer of its size, good drinkability and is designed to be cellared 5-10 years.
"Anniversary Ale 8 is a fantastic addition to our AA series," said Head Brewer, Shawn Sherlock. "It has rich crystal malt character and assertive bitterness and hop flavour to finish. As previous vintages have shown, extensive cellaring will be well rewarded with a depth of complexity of flavour and aroma that only careful bottle aging brings."
Cellaring is strongly recommended to ensure greatest enjoyment of the beer.
