Last night Port Stephens brewer, Murray’s Craft Brewing Co, was awarded “Champion IPA” at the 2016 Craft Beer Industry Association (CBIA) Awards, held in Brisbane before a 300-strong audience. The Champion beer was Murray’s Thunderbolt IPA – released only last weekend as part of the brewer’s annual American Beer Month, held at its Bobs Farm Brewery.
“We have a passion for IPA’s, and this is the ultimate accolade from the craft beer industry so far. Thunderbolt is the hoppiest IPA we’ve brewed so far,” says Brewer, Alex Tucker. “I’m also proud to say it appears we medalled for all beers entered.”
From 600 entries nationally, Murray’s achieved these results at the CBIA Awards:
“We’re inspired by the unique spirit of creativity and entrepreneurism found in the USA, and IPAs are one of the classic American beer styles. For American Beer Month we brewed our takes on the American IPA - 2 versions, including Thunderbolt IPA - together with a Black IPA, and a Double IPA. We’re also brewing a Blood Orange IPA for release very soon. And for the first time we are releasing some very limited edition SMaSH IPA’s. What a line-up!” he said.
