These school holidays, join patriots around the world to embrace one of the most popular beer styles, IPA’s (India Pale Ale). On offer will be 8 USA-themed beers, including the brewer’s hoppiest ever IPA and their first ever SMaSH beers.
The kitchen team will be serving up a finger-licking-good array of USA-themed food specials, such as the belly-busting, Elvis-inspired Fool’s Gold Burger filled with bacon, peanut butter and ‘jelly’. “The Fourth of July is a significant national holiday. And while it’s usually associated with fireworks, parades and baseball games, we’re paying tribute through the release of some truly amazing-tasting American-style beers,” said brewery owner, Murray Howe.
“We’re inspired by the unique spirit of creativity and entrepreneurism found in the USA. For American Beer Month we have brewed our takes on the American IPA - 2 versions, including our hoppiest IPA yet - together with a Black IPA, and a Double IPA. We’re also brewing a Blood Orange IPA. And for the first time we are releasing some very limited edition SMaSH IPA’s. What a line-up!” he said.
SMaSH is an acronym for “Single Malt and Single Hop”. It’s a relatively new approach to brewing based on simplicity. SMaSH brewing breaks the process down to its basic elements and emphasises the flavour of a single malt and single hop variety.
“In Murray’s case, the focus in July is all on the hops. We’re brewing four SMaSH IPA’s initially starting with Equinox hop, then Ella, Mosaic and New Zealand Riwaka. And we’ll extend through to 9 August, which marks International IPA Day,” added Murray.
Murray’s American Beer Month starts on Saturday 2 July, and runs through to 9 August (international IPA Day).
